For my Senior Thesis I decided to look at made typography and sculpt letters out of material I have never used before. The main idea behind my piece was a memorial for a very good friend of mine who unfortunately passed away. I was compelled to do something in her honor and decided to create her name, Jasmine. I chose materials that would help me make an organic piece. The skeletons of these letters are made from wire. As for the material that covers the wire, I chose boxwood branches because I wanted a stable live plant material that will, with time, show the process of decay, which one day, all of us will go through. I also decided to add Jasmine flowers to the piece in order to connect her name to the material used, however, the flowers are synthetic and will not decay over time, just as her memory which will continue to live on.
